There is No vember

posted by Jon

November didn't exist this year. No Knoll Street posts, no beers brewed. Actually, that second part isn't true. We brewed our September beer in November. November's beer will be brewed in December. Tomorrow, actually. December's beer will also be brewed tomorrow. Come on out. Have a beer. Brew with us. Now jump.

Now for the catching up. We brewed Gourdon, Jr. on 9/18. Gourdon, Jr. is Gourdon+. Extra everything. I've tried it. It's tasty.

2:25 2 gal water heated

2:50 4 lbs Crystal 10°L and 6 lbs roasted pumpkin steeped

3:35 Grains and pumpkin sparged with 1/2 gal 155° water

4:16 Boil started. 1 oz Warrior hops added

4:46 10 lb LME, 1 lb DME and 3/4 lb lactose added

5:01 3/4 tsp Cinnamon, 3/4 tsp cloves, 3/4 tsp ginger, 1 ground vanilla bean, 2 tsp Irish moss, 5 tsp yeast nutrient and 1 oz Sterling hops added.

On 11/16 we brewed our September beer, the barleywine. Kreg Sills was able to get us some hops from a farmer in Caledonia. We used quite a bit of these hops in this recipe.

7:45 Grains sparged with 1/2 gal 155° water

8:20 3 oz whole Cascade and 1 1/2 oz whole Centennial hops added

8:50 2 1/5 oz whole Cascade and 1 oz pellet Centennial hops added

9:05 1 tsp Irish moss and 5 tsp yeast nutrient added
